Detail of painted cover art for Turok Son of Stone #58
Here’s a selection of colourful, incident-filled paintings that the American artist George Wilson (1921 – 1999) produced for such titles as Gold Key’s STAR TREK and TUROK SON OF STONE comics. As a kid I owned a SPACE FAMILY ROBINSON annual that sported a wonderful George Wilson cover: its depiction of huge flying beetles attacking the Robinson family really made me eager to read the stories inside!
George Wilson was extremely prolific, so the examples below are just a taste of the kind of imaginative, eye-catching cover paintings he created over the years.
